How we got here...

I'm Brooke. I'm a wife to Chris, the greatest man that God ever put on this earth, who is a sergeant at The Sheriff's Office. I am also a mama to 5, three beautiful and sassy girls, Bella, Oaklee, and Remi, the sweetest baby boy, Gatlin, and our sweet angel girl Danny.

Chris and I met in 2013 and started dating. Neither of us were very good at relationships at this point so there was a lot of "we were on a break" happening. We finally got our stuff together and got engaged in 2019, married in 2020 with our sweet Bella as my maid of honor, had more babies in 2021, 2022, and 2024. Right after we got engaged, I resigned from my position at Levine Children's Hospital to be a full time stay at home mom.

In 2024, 4 months after we lost Danny, our entire lives were turned upside down even more than they already had been. I rushed Chris to the emergency room where he was diagnosed with diabetes, necrotizing pancreatitis, an enlarged liver, an enlarged spleen, a mass on his left kidney, sepsis, ketoacidosis, with a blood sugar of 562. He was in the ICU for 5 days and out of work for 6 weeks. Two weeks later we found out that we were pregnant with Gatlin, our rainbow baby. Three months later, on my 35th birthday, we found out that the mass on his kidney was actually renal cell carcinoma. After a long long talk in the Food Lion parking lot, he decided to have a partial nephrectomy to remove the tumor... so in November, at 34 weeks pregnant, I kissed my husband as he was wheeled off to a surgery that neither of us knew if he would wake up from. 5 weeks to the day later, my amazing and cancer free husband assisted my OB in the delivery of our only son.

Chris used the majority of his PTO when he was in the hospital and recovering in the spring, so one week after surgery, he returned to work on light duty for 4 weeks, then took 2 weeks off to be home with us after Gatlin was born. I felt so guilty that I wasn't helping financially when we truly needed it but having a high risk pregnancy and then having a baby, I was unable to do anything.

I decided right then that I needed to do something so that if something like that was ever to happen to either of us again, we would have options. So I started praying. Well, nothing happened. I know, I know. It wasn't some amazing epiphany that happened overnight.. in fact, a year later, I decided to stop asking God for anything specific, I just started asking Him to show me how good it can get.

I had learned how to make sourdough as a kid from my grandmother, learned to bake from her and my mama, and had always enjoyed it. So, when Chris got sick, I started making our bread so that I knew what was going in our bodies as much as I could with what I had. In January of 2026, Chris told me that I should sell my bread. Yall, I cackled at him when he said it. I told him that no one was going to want to buy my bread but he guaranteed I was wrong. Me being the stubborn butthead that I am, I wanted to prove him wrong, so I posted some loaves on facebook and asked a few neighbors to taste test for me. To my surprise, people started asking to buy my bread every time I posted a photo.

I was encouraged by everyone who ended up with a loaf to open a business. So, I did.

Feburary 27, 2026 I opened Front Porch Flour Co.

This little business has grown faster than I ever could have imagined, blessed me in ways that yall wouldn't believe, and given me something that is mine.

I am so thankful for every single one of you. Each and every single purchase is helping our family more than you know. Every single order is helping a mom find her identity again after being only mom and wife for 16 years. Every single comment, tag, post, and share is making my dreams that I didn't even know I had come true. So again, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

A special thank you to my husband and my sweet babies. I am spread a lot thinner now. I don't have supper on the table at the same time every night, I don't keep up with the laundry, and sometimes I have to say "I can't right now" way more often than I want to. None of you complain. Yall encourage me every single day to shoot for the moon, keep dreaming bigger, and to do that crazy thing I think I can't do. You stay up with me doing stretch and folds, check my dough while I do bed/bath time, and pick up my slack without making me feel like I'm slacking. I am so thankful for yall. God gave me the best of the best when He gave me yall!

Love,

Brooke
